A September wedding at a windmill venue on the caldera — a crescent-moon floral arch, a confetti recessional, crystal chandeliers over a cliff-side dinner and a fire show after dark.
The venue came with a whitewashed windmill and a hundred metres of caldera view, and Mary and Chris wanted a ceremony that answered it. We built a crescent-moon arch of white and blush blooms, open to the sea, so the horizon sat inside the frame the whole way through the vows.
Their little boy arrived down the aisle in his own miniature convertible, which set the tone for the rest of the afternoon. The recessional disappeared into a cloud of confetti; then a vintage car took them along the rim for portraits past a blue-domed church and back in time for sunset.
For dinner we ran a single table down the terraces with crystal chandeliers hanging above it and low garlands the whole length. There was a champagne tower, a violinist on the steps, a cake cut under falling sparks — and a fire dancer to finish, once the caldera had gone black.
